About our clients and our work
Mentoring Today’s unique approach, track record and experience
Mentoring Today was founded as Executive Coaching and Facilitation (Execoach) in 1999 and we have been providing mentoring training and services to individuals and corporates since then. In 2014, the company changed its name to Mentoring Today, but still continues to provide valuable mentoring services to many companies in various industry sectors. Below are just a couple of instances where we were involved in mentoring people.
Mentoring steadies those affected by change
Mentoring Today started by providing mentoring services at Sanlam Head Office. Sanlam changed from being a company with offices in each town in South Africa to serving its clients centrally from its head office in Bellville. This big change affected thousands of employees throughout South Africa and the mentoring services we offered steadied many at a time when their lives were shaken up and disrupted by change.
Mentoring Today provided mentoring services when Swaziland moved towards letting local Swazis take over key positions in their sugar industry. We trained older expats, who were from various countries around the world, to mentor young, upcoming locals. We were privileged to be a part of this successful change which took place naturally and quicker than was first imagined.
Mining has always been an industry where there is scope for locals to do more. Mentoring Today was appointed to provide mentoring services for Xstrata (now Glencore). We assisted the organisation’s top structure to identify and mentor younger, upcoming people. Mentoring Today worked with 114 mentoring pairs to achieve very specific objectives. Some executives ascribed their record-breaking success in part to the mentoring programme we facilitated in their organisation.
The construction industry’s top echelons have, at times, looked like a closed club for privileged professionals. Mentoring Today was fortunate to be appointed to work with senior officials at one of the top five construction companies to train them to be mentors. This was such a successful programme that there now is a waiting list for available mentors! It has been a heart warming project to be involved with.
The police in South Africa face severe challenges including heavy work loads and low morale. Mentoring Today was pleased to be appointed to provide mentoring services for police officials throughout South Africa. Police mentors were then trained to focus on assisting mentees who faced very heavy work loads, public image issues, personal risk and limited career opportunities. At the mentoring workshops, it was clear that the mentoring information was very well received. The feedback was excellent too and consistently read: “This was more than I expected. It was practical. I feel equipped.” (View testimonials)
Accredited Mentoring courses
Our mentoring workshops are accredited with the appropriate SETA (ETDP SETA) and follow SAQA unit standards. Delegates build their portfolios during the course and Mentoring Today is able to register and certify learners officially and quickly from our well-run admin office.
Courses are suitable for client’s needs
At Mentoring Today, we make it our business to understand the specific working environment of every client we work with. While our courses meet SAQA requirements of accreditation, they are also directed towards each client’s specific needs.
Mentors uplifting others
Mostly though, the mentors we interact with on our courses become mentors for life who wonderfully influence and uplift others. Often, we also see the mentees we work with become mentors themselves.
